The first single from the highly-anticipated debut full length album from Kala, has been announced! This is the first of three singles to be produced by Hip Hop Heavyweight Chin Injeti and is to be titled: #BIBLICALTIMES. The track drops on February 22nd and rumour has it that Kala will be doing a launch tour in Berlin, Amsterdam and London.

When asked what the inspiration behind this first single was, Kala responded: “You know its such a crazy turn of events that lead to this being the first official single that I will be sharing with the world. But its a mix of influences I felt from when we were on tour in California this summer and drove through thick smoke for three days as the whole coast burned, and reading I was doing over the holidays about some of the origins of our modern beliefs and customs. When I came to put the first single down in the studio in the new year, Chin was talking to me about his faith and it all clicked when he dropped the beat.”.

Kala mentioned that even though the song does address some of the difficult realities of our time he wants to bring playfulness to that reality with a social media campaign #BIBLICALTIMES which encourages people to take pictures of ANYTHING that is TRUELY EPIC with the hash tag, #BIBLICALTIMES. We can’t wait to bring in the chinese new year with this new banger!

Chin Injeti to produce 3 singles on new album

In Vancouver, BC, a holy alliance of two musical innovators is underway as KALA joins forces with Hip Hop Legend Chin Injeti for three of the singles from his upcoming debut album. Still no date or title for the album or the singles but from what we’ve seen when these two get in Chin’s gastown studio, we expect an announcement soon with the first single launch date.

Chin Injeti is a Canadian singer, musician, and music producer. He got his start as a founding member of Juno Award-winning group Bass is Base. He frequently collaborates with producer DJ Khalil; together they have written and produced songs for Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Clipse, Eminem and J Cole. Injeti’s work with Eminem and Lecrae has garnered 3 Grammy Awards, as well as Grammy nominations for Aloe Blacc’s Lift Your Spirit and P!nk’s The Truth About Love.

Kala, up to this point has been largely unknown on the international stage as he helped to develop a flourishing arts scene locally in BC, with his festival, Blessed Coast and the year round events his company produces and promotes. However his mixtape that dropped last winter gave anyone that was wondering a clear example of how gifted he is with rhyming, lyricism, songwriting and storytelling. Including Chin who will now be working with him to craft his first singles for the international music marketplace.

KALA goes tribal trap w/ pacha papa on new album

The camp working around the clock on Kala’s debut album has just announced on social media that Kala will be partnering with local bass and tribal trap prodige, Pacha Papa for the production of the majority of the songs on his full length album. Kala said in a post to fans that he was excited to really dive into the storytelling aspect of a full-length concept album with Pacha. Pacha is looking forward to take his groundbreaking tribal bass and experimental electronica talents into the world of trap and hip hop. We think something amazing is bound to come from this cross-over match made in heaven, who both have a broad range of experience in other genres but are focusing on trap-style production for this album. With this announcement we now know that the two main producers on Kala’s upcoming debut full-length album are Pacha Papa and Chin Injeti, that being said, we think you should make sure your subwoofers are ready to blast.

KALA Announces Album

After receiving mad love from local and international fans and industry pros for the evocative lyricism and vibrant rhythms and melodies on his self-produced remix mixtape: JACKIN4BEATZ,  Kala has announced that he will be releasing his first full length album with all original tracks to be produced by a slew of groundbreaking composers. Rumour has it that a few of the singles may be produced by hip-hop heavyweight Chin Injeti whose recent work with EMINEM reached #1 in 40 countries. There is no release date or title as of yet for the full album which Kala said will probably have 11 songs, but we look forward to seeing what’s next for this bar hungry behemoth.
